President Wilson arrives in Paris to begin peace work. He is met at the dock by Colonel House and immediately boards a train toward the conference. Preparations push ahead with a preliminary draft treaty expected by March 20.
The notices urge payment by check, money order or cash and require at least one quarter of estimated tax with the return. Taxpayers must file with the Collector of Internal Revenue in Boston by midnight Saturday March 15, either in person or by mail postmarked by that time, with office hours extended tonight to 9 and tomorrow to midnight.
New York reports that Wesley A Hill former Rough Rider and Roosevelt associate announced the Apache Aerial Transportation Company will inaugurate an ocean to ocean passenger route this August. The fleet of four airplanes will carry 48 passengers.
In North Adams on March 13 the Parent Teachers Association vows to stop spooning on schoolhouse steps. After a porch light wards off couples, volunteers patrol after dark and act as silent chaperones to deter romantic pairs.
City officials say no orders will hold the first unit for the Boston parade on the 26th. The parade costs are pegged at about one million dollars, with officers warning the rest of the day may proceed without the unit.
The 101st Infantry of Boston, the first National Guard regiment to reach France and to see action, will be the first regiment in the 26th Division to return home.
