Edward R. Brennan, assistant superintendent of bridges, has been discharged amid charges he was frequently intoxicated. The job paid $450 daily and included use of a horse and carriage. Applicants for the position include Major Maguire Neil Monahan and James Doherty.
In McKeesport Pennsylvania the iron works of W. D. Wood & Co. closed and hundreds of employees were discharged after joining the Amal gamated Association. The firm plans to hire non union men to resume operations, prompting expectation of clashes when work restarts.

Gillig manager of the American Exchange of Europe attached Barrett’s scenery and $1500 in the box office to secure a $12,592 claim tied to Barrett’s 1884 English tour. The tour failed. Wheelock valued at about 60000 dollars owned real estate in Germantown. A sister in New York and a half brother in Vermont are believed to inherit.
Police officer Owen ONeill of Station 11 was shot on Dorchester avenue near Savin Hill while questioning a man named Wallace. The wounded officer was taken to the City Hospital as authorities hunted the suspect and noted a burglary at a nearby coal office and wheelwright shop theft links.
A band of armed men attacked William Eaton's home near Sprinaric Missouri, killing Eaton and Charles Green and wounding Eaton's elderly father and two women. The attackers, believed Bald Knobbers, escaped. Mrs Eaton identified two suspects as members. The motive linked to outspoken opposition to the group.
