Salem Register Critiques Texans Like Old Prototypes

In 1814 Leverett Saltonstall in Massachusetts denounced Louisianians with coarse terms, while the Salem Register now critical of the Texans mirrors that rhetoric. Both pieces reflect a broader pattern of hostile commentary toward the Union, likening colonial origins to British Tory claims that the colonists were born in Newgate.
