John Dillon, MP for East Mayo, was unanimously chosen as chairman of the Nationalist party in London, succeeding the late John Redmond. The motion was brought forward by Joseph Devlin. American troops east of Luneville conducted a dawn raid across No Man's Land finding German trenches evacuated and returned unharmed. A second raid north of Richecourt drew enemy reserves as bombardment signaled another assault with American fire creating gaps in barbed wire.
Mrs. Robert Torrey and Mrs. Frank Thurlow were overcome by coal gas from a basement furnace at 64 Marlboro Street Newburyport. Miss Laura Fowler, who found them, fainted from the fumes and is under treatment at home. The two women are in Anna Jacques Hospital with possible recovery.
London reports that thirteen German airplanes and three balloons were put out of action by the British last Friday. The official announcement confirms the heavy air losses.
