Henry J. Hall a 72 year old mining engineer born in Connecticut shot himself at the Fifth Avenue Hotel. He reportedly helped sink the first shaft in California during early golf discoveries and held several mines. Hall had dyspepsia and was under a New York doctor. His wife was nearby when the suicide occurred. He was described as a millionaire.
