Tur Monocco Dressers Strike Flares in Lynn
A Lynn morocco dressers strike continues with many workers quitting or awaiting finish of current work. The Manufacturers' Association met, adopting resolutions to bar finishers paying union dues and to require completion of all skins before wage changes take effect. Vacancies fill quickly as new workers come in. Medford town meeting allocations listed for schools, fire, and public works.

Washington Street Extension Plans for Boston Corridor
The proposed Washington street extension from Cornhill to Haymarket square creates a sixty foot wide corridor except at Devonshire street, with a direct line to Charles river bridge. The grade falls gradually to Hanover street and a double track will carry Middlesex Lynn and Boston railroads to Boylston and Tremont Cornhill. Ferry cars and northern rail cars join the extension. Highland Railroad may reach Haymarket square. Sudbury and Union streets car tracks are removed, Scollay square traffic reduced, and the project costs 1 600 000 dollars.

Boston Finances Move to Expand City Expenditures and Offices
The Boston auditor’s exhibit notes requests for $10,000 for Overseers of the Poor and $36,000 for Fire Commissioners with related land and school site appropriations, plus a plan to hire a city offices building at 3 Pemberton Square and to transfer a fire boat. The committee recommends tax levy of twelve million dollars plus 3 percent for nonpayment, totaling about 11.636 million after income. Inspections for ballast were held, electing Edward Hatch as chief and four assistants.
