Belgian Prince Dinner At White House Honors Visit

Prince Albert of Belgium was entertained by President McKinley at the executive mansion dinner in Washington. About fifty guests attended including Vice President Hobart, Cabinet members, diplomatic corps, and notable lawmakers. The event featured music by the Marine Band and decorative lighting and flowers in the corridor and dining room.

Fitchburg Woman Seeks Worcester Bar Admission

Miss Addie Frances Gillette of Fitchburg will appear before Judge Gaskill in Worcester Superior Court as an applicant for admission to the bar. This marks the first time a woman has applied for admission to the Worcester county bar after passing the examination. the admission had been delayed amid a remonstrance from counsel Ware. The order was posted at the Worcester courthouse today and follows a December discussion that drew wide attention.

Sailor Sharkey Fight Ends In Draw Amid Uproar

The San Francisco bout between Tom Sharkey and Choynski drew a loud crowd of about 7000 with as much betting as 75000 to 80000 dollars. Referee George Green was criticized for not disqualifying fouls as Sharkey fouled repeatedly, the match halted in the eighth round. Police then separated Sharkey who wept as the crowd cried foul and shouted fake.
