Bark William P. Frye Sunk in South Atlantic
The bark William P. Frye was sunk January 28 in the South Atlantic by the cruiser Eitel Friedrich which arrived in Norfolk Virginia yesterday seeking safety from British cruisers. The German ship seized Frye's cargo of wheat claiming contraband while Frye and his crew protested under the American flag. The vessel was en route from Seattle to Ireland when attacked. Naval experts say the German skipper had no legal right to seize the cargo.
