Lawrence jubilant as eight week textile strike nears end with plans to vote on mill owners offer. Haywood returned from Paterson and outlined mass meeting at Common Tuesday afternoon to decide acceptance or rejection of terms. Tomorrow at the State House in awaits further action.

The body of 23 year old track walker James B. Dennehy, employed by Boston Elevated, was found decapitated with an arm severed just above the elbow in the Cambridge tunnel near Cedar Street shortly after 1 P.M. yesterday. Police began investigations into the brutal homicide as the city mourns.
Dennehy, an Elevated track walker for two years, was found prostrate on the track after a possible contact with a live rail. Medical examiner Magrath notes burns on his hand and suggests he may have died before being struck by a train. He lived with brother Jeremiah at 139 Somerville avenue and had recent ties to County Kerry, Ireland, and to the Irish National Foresters and the Hibernians.
Springfield March 10. Harriet Cox Fills sues pastor Rev John Fills of Chic opee First Unitarian Church to obtain custody of their 5 year old daughter Olga. The hearing in Probate Court will include charges of conspiracy brutality immorality and attempted incarceration in an insane asylum without just cause.
Mrs. Bills seeks custody after committal to the Northampton Insane Hospital for 17 days ending in a release by Supt Houston who found her sane. Her husband reportedly refused access to their daughter upon discharge. Attorneys allege doctors Bodfish and Prindle declared insanity, and a Chicopee judge affidavit supported it. The family pursues divorce proceedings after the hearing on child possession.
Flora McPhee a 20 year old domestic died at Somerville Hospital after four hours in a scalding bath at the home of employer Frank L. Drummond president of the Warren Beef Company 14 Hall street West Somerville. Burns were sustained while tending a furnace fire.
Miss McPhee suffered severe burns after her clothing ignited while tending the coal in the basement. Richard Tokman found her at 5 o clock and a physician treated her as she described the incident. she died three hours later at the hospital.
Charges allege Colonel Walter Lombard acted unbecoming an officer issuing three contradictory orders, likened a senior captain to an army jackass, and signed a payroll placing a cook-stand assistant as a non commissioned officer. He was relieved by Governor Foss and a trial board will hear the case at the State House next Saturday.

A Hobart dispatch reports Roald Amundsen doubting any clear sign Scott reached the pole first. Amundsen cites calm weather and possible destroyed records while leaving open the possibility Scott arrived earlier or later. The Fram crew’s reticence fuels mystery surrounding Scott and his party.
Captain Amundsen says six weeks were spent at high elevations with frequent breath difficulties. Heights reached 16 750 feet while the pole stood at 10 500 feet. The party never lacked food though men had strong appetites after sledging and dog meat was eaten for nourishment.
