King sends gold indemnity and seeks peace in Africa
A Wolseley despatch dated February 16 reports the King sent a thousand ounces of gold as an initial indemnity and a peace request. An envoy met Formmanah while Coomassie received a treaty for the King's signature. Capt. Glovers force passed Coomassie with twenty men unmolested. The final white troop detachment sails February 22. The sick and wounded are improving.
