Nine civil service exemptions spotted at State Department

Verdict Awarded in Wilkinson v McCune Over Note

A verdict of 7200 was rendered yesterday in the case where Mrs. Alice B. Wilkinson sues Joseph R. McCune to recover the value of a 5000 note and interest. The note was indorsed by both parties with McCune claiming it was an accommodation endorsement and he would not be asked to pay. Arrest of Frank Kerrigan in Overcoat Theft Case

Inspector Cleary and an officer from Station 3 arrested Frank Kerrigan aged 24 of 29 Pitta Street for allegedly stealing an overcoat valued at $20 from Louis Solomon of 25 Howard Street on Monday. The prisoner is described as a brother of Patsy Kerrigan the well known scrapper.

Farmer Dies After Horse Drawn Wagon Accident

On Church street at 5 p m Patrick Glancy a farmer and milkman was thrown from his wagon while guiding a spirited horse and suffered a broken neck. He died an hour later.

Accident in Roxbury injures Gunganheiser daughter

Abraham Gunganheiser of Roxbury drove with his daughter Bertha along Harrison avenue near Dover street when their buggy was struck by a double wagon driven by Lawrence Decature. Bertha was thrown from the carriage but escaped with light injuries.

Mother and three daughters drown near Brownsville ranch

A Mexican woman named Luiz Santos Rodriguez and her three daughters drowned at a ranch twenty miles from Brownsville. The eldest girl wandered into a lagoon beyond her depth, followed by two sisters who tried to save her. The mother jumped in to rescue them and all four died.

Advices from Hiera petra Crete report Mussulmans in possession of the town summoned to surrender by Christian insurgents investing the town. The Mussulmans refused. Insurgents then fired a volley into the town. Continued on Page 3.
