Majetta Spencer a bright 17 year old girl of 38 Milford Street died after a narcotic poisoning incident reported yesterday morning at 9. Dr A W K Newton of 528 Tremont Street treated her but she died shortly after noon. Neighbors suspect suicide amid taunts over her family name Warren Spencer. Chums laid flowers around the body as Newton kept the diamonds and jewelry for her father, who uses the name Spencer Warren in newspaper ads.
Ten men and boys were at work in the picker room when a hot shaft ignited a blaze at the United States Carpet Lining Company works on the second floor near Tenth and Grand streets. Pustaperpus Penn March 7 Nelson F. Evans, former president of Spring Garden Insurance and ex-director of the defunct Spring Garden Bank, was arrested this afternoon in connection with frauds tied to the bank's officials.
Rochester March 7 Professor Swift at Warner observatory discovered a bright telescopic comet just after daylight. It lies in right ascension 18h59m declination south 31 20 and is very bright for a telescope. It can be seen with an opera glass and moves slowly eastward. No tail was visible with the large telescope.
