Murder in Broad Daylight Ends Hopeful Life in South End
The city was shaken by a brutal murder of Mrs Harriet A Bell at her Kirkland street home. She was stabbed from behind as she entered, a dirk severing the jugular vein, and the attacker fled. Medical examiners describe a deep two edged wound, with the weapon missing. Police issued a description and searched morgue remains found at her modest home. The victim had worked at Winnett and Jewett on Washington street and the scene showed thrift and order.
