Charges Against Judge Barnard Probe Opens

The Assembly Judiciary Committee began an investigation into charges against Judge Barnard alleging a conspiracy with James Fisk and others to illegally obtain possession of the Erie Albany and Susquehanna Rail roads. Witness David Dudley Field testified he visited Barnard twice on legal business and had no reason to think Barnard stood to gain financially. International Demonstration Postponed due to cold at Tompkins Square. another meeting planned for Monday. Petroleum Refining Trade holds meeting on Southern Improvement Company monopolization. committees named to study the issue and report.
