President Wilson announced a shift in policy giving the Cabinet full control of federal patronage. He indicated the official family would have wider power than ever before, with Senators seeking appointments referred to the Attorney General. The plan leverages cabinet teamwork for potentially better results.
President Wilson held his first official cabinet session, acknowledged cordial messages from monarchs, and discussed the diplomatic post outlook with officials. Secretary Bryan is rumored to name foreign posts, with Richard Olney of Boston suggested for Great Britain. Wilson avoided patronage talks and left for a 4 pm auto ride with Mrs. Wilson.

She says officers pushed young girls toward the center of the procession under protection of older women. Verna Hetfield recounts being grabbed by a man in the crowd and kicking free. Maud C. Gunther says police reclined on the crowd during the event.
Miss Patricia M. Street, assistant parade director, testified a drunken man spat tobacco juice at a woman during the line. She said she struck the man in the face and a policeman tore her coat while trying to restrain her. He allegedly exclaimed that such events would not occur if women stayed home.
Frank M. Ryan of Chicago, a labor leader convicted in the dynamite conspiracy trials, was re elected president of the International Association of Bridge and Structural Iron Workers at its session in Indianapolis on March 6.
Behind closed doors the session elected Harry Jones of New York as secretary treasurer succeeding Herbert 8 Hockin who serves six years at Fort Leavenworth for his role in a dynamite conspiracy. James F. McClory of Cleveland continues as acting secretary treasurer and first vice president, with P. J. Morrin of St. Louis as second vice president.
An outward bound Forest Hills Elevated train derailed after taking an open switch near Dudley Street station and crashed into a stationary string of cars on a siding. No passengers were injured, but the first car vestibule was badly damaged and service was halted for about 30 minutes.
Major Henry Lee Higginson, Boston’s leading banker, appeared unexpectedly at the railroad session of New Haven Chamber of Commerce directors. He defended the New Haven railroad management against morning and afternoon attacks by Louis D Brandeis Edward A Filene Bernard J Rothwell and many manufacturers and businessmen.
Chairman James J. Stor and directors heard a candid remark from a speaker in the reading room. He claimed no courtesy or permission, saying he acted on his own notion to defend the New Haven road from critics. He joked about being an accessory to the original railroad consolidations in New England.

Former welterweight champion William H. Mellody filed a suit for alienation of his wife's affections against T Munroe Murphy of West Roxbury. The action seeks $20,000 in damages.
The suit mirrors last month’s air in court over alleged marital infelicities of Mr and Mrs Mellody. Mrs Mellody accused her husband of abusive treatment and the fighter was found guilty and appealed. A drunkenness charge at the same time was dismissed. Mellody, a fighter recently active in New York, could not be reached. counsel J H Hop Wood of 42 Court Street declined comment.
Mrs. Fannie Parker of Prescott Street Cambridge emphatically denied late last night that she was part of a party intended to kidnap Fresno Dan, a witness for respondents in the Russel identity hearing.
In Suffolk Superior Court Mrs Parker disputes claims she and another woman urged Fresno Dan to leave the courthouse. A scuffle ensued when Dan refused, with Parker cautioned by Master Gilbert A. A. Peavy to avoid further contact with the witness. Dan later resumed cross examination.
Dennis Cody aged 23 from Worcester Street was killed when a street car collided with a touring car on Washington near Summer. Mrs Denise Cody injured, another woman slightly hurt. Herbert L. Wardner arrested as driver after aiding victims and being held at City Hall Avenue station. Wardner, brother of former Boston Traveler proprietor Torrey Wardner, was limping but helped an injured woman into a drug store before police detained him.
Dennis Cody, a shoemaker, died after being thrown against a streetcar vestibule and crushed by its moving gear. Mrs Cody suffered two forearm fractures and a scalp wound and was treated at the Relief Station. A fourth female passenger revived in a drug store and departed by taxi as a southbound Rowe's Wharf car entered Washington Street.
