Mrs Lois Burnett Rantoul lost her bid for freedom from Edward L Rantoul when Judge Hardy dismissed her divorce libel in Middlesex Court. Attorneys for both sides did not expect a ruling for two weeks. Mr Rantoul testified he still loves his wife and reconciliation may be possible despite the decision.
Mrs Rantoul spoke with a Postman and said the case’s future depends on her attorney Thomas W Proctor who is in New York and will return Monday The father deferred comment saying the decision rests with the children’s disposition The split time arrangement remains and parties aim to settle the custody matter out of court with agreed intervals for the children
Annie B. Hayden 58, widow of 856 Beacon Street Back Bay, suffered depression and vanished from her residence Wednesday noon. Sister to Walter and Dr. George Badger, daughter of Erastus Badger. Police aiding search but no clues yet. Last seen in a black gray suit purple hat with lynx stole and silver mesh bag. 5 feet 2 inches tall 125 pounds with gray hair. Prominent in Back Bay society and charity work.
Health Board rules permit vinegar sellers in the city to dilute product with water without labeling the container as adulterated. The decision was issued yesterday.
John A. Mullen resigns as chief of the Boston fire department after eight years in the post. He says his departure was not voluntary and cites a cabinet clash that led Mayor Curley to promote Deputy Chief John Grady to fire commissioner as Colonel Cole retires tomorrow.
Deputy Chief Grady will serve as acting chief of the department while his appointment as fire commissioner awaits civil service commission action. Reported on strong authority that he would become chief if the commission delays his appointment.
An 18 year old clerk, Elizabeth Delorey, chased two men from the F. S. Seales jewelry store in Common Street Winchester after a watch went missing. She grabbed Edwin Jeffreys of Arlington Terrace Malden. he was captured by Special Officer Fred Steverison after he threw her aside.
Miss Delorey of Chapin Court Winchester detained two youths who entered a local store to shop for watches. A watch disappeared after the suspects left the shop. She chased, halted one man and helped police arrest Jeffreys after a pursuit through Winchester square Converse place and Main street with Officer Stevenson.
Matthew T. Burns aged 82 recently discharged from City Hospital after an ice injury hanged himself in his third floor room at 55 Oak Street. Lodgers found the body after a period of quiet, Burns had said he felt he was in everybody's way due to age. Burns formerly worked as a flagman at Marlboro.
In New York Frank Tannenbaum former waiter and leader of an unemployed marching group of 190 under the Industrial Workers of the World waited in a cell for bail of 7500. The marchers faced charges of disorderly conduct and inciting to riot after being arrested last night at St Alphonsus Church on West Broadway.
One man arraigned before Magistrate Corrigan with case continued to tomorrow. Justus Sheffield, for the prisoners, signaled calling other defendants as witnesses while Tannenbaum had been arraigned earlier in Jefferson Market Court. Bail raised to 7500. A crowd of I W W followers watched as prisoners were moved to police cars and taken to cells for the night.
General Luis Terrazas appeals to U S consul in El Paso for help to save his son Luis Terrazas held by Francisco Villa who demands 500 000 pesos. The consul says he is unable to intervene as money and options are exhausted. Felix Diaz arrives in Washington seeking U S aid for counter revolution. Senate plans to take up the Mexican situation next.

He stated he would return to Chihuahua and accept Villa's claim if it saved Luis who is held by the rebels. Luis, about 50, has been prisoner for months, with rebels demanding 650000 in gold as ransom, a payment slowed by the difficulty of securing funds. he was briefly judged for execution before a continuation on page V.
In Brookline's annual town election William Craig defeated George Abbott for the Board of Selectmen by a large plurality after a tied caucus. Other selectmen and officials were re elected, while John McMahan lost the collector post to George Worthley in a light turnout.
Reno Nevada March 5 Former United States Senator W A Massey of Reno died today on a train en route to Susanville California He was 68 and died of heart trouble Massey served as Nevada senator from July 1912 to January 29 1913 after being appointed by Governor Oddie to fill George S Nixon's vacancy

The Quincy House top floors burned last evening around 9 killed man W. R. Snow of Woodstock New Brunswick and injured about a dozen others. Elevator boy Scotty McKay repeatedly ferried passengers to safety through the blaze and smoke risking his own life to rescue blind Fred Wheeler. The seventh floor rescue efforts saved others as the elevator caught fire on the final trip.
