Steamer Collingham’s perilous fifty day voyage to Bermuda
The British steamer Collingham under Captain Charles Smith arrived in quarantine after a harrowing forty nine to fifty day journey from Fiume Austria. Facing dwindling coal supplies heavy storms and damaged fittings the crew burned sugar cargo for fuel to survive and still reached Bermuda for coal and repairs.
