Requisition Refused as Connecticut Governor Row Deepens
A March 5 1891 letter from New York Governor Hill rejects a requisition for Jobe T Colbert's return to New York citing that Morgan G Bulkeley is not Connecticut's lawful governor. Hill brands Bulkeley a usurper and affirms Morris as the de jure governor after election returns and Senate recognition. He states requisitions are to be judged by the proper executive authority and declines to assist in Bulkeley's request while noting Connecticut citizens elected Morris. The piece also notes a Watertown memorial letter to General Sherman and Admiral Porter and mentions no extra Senate session is planned.
