Heroic Rescue by Joseph Higgins of East Boston
Joseph Higgins of 406 Maverick Street East Boston saved George McIntire a 12 year old boy who fell through the ice near Parker's fish wharf. Higgins crawled half way to the boy then went through the ice himself yet reached the boy and pulled him to safety after about 20 minutes in the water. The boy was taken home and is said to be not much the worse for his ordeal. Higgins has previously performed several gallant rescues.
