Town Meetings Across Commonwealth Vote No License Widely
A large majority of seventy five to one hundred towns held town meetings on a March Monday and voted down liquor licenses in most cases. Athol and Orange granted a street railway franchise, Marlboro seeks sewer funding, and Acton accepts a Memorial Library gift. Several towns elected women to school boards and boosted appropriations for schools, libraries, charities, and public works.
