Record Cargo Of Coal Here
What is said to be the largest cargo of soft coal ever received at this port was brought in yesterday by the big American collier Victorius which arrived yesterday from Norfolk with 10 596 tons for the Northern Coal Company. She will discharge today at Mystic wharf Charlestown. Another steamer the Eyota arrived from the same port with 2500 tons of coal. A barge brought an equal amount of coal and three barge loads of hard coal arrived. With these heavy arrivals of coal by water and the railroad situation better than it has been for three weeks the coal situation in New England looked brighter than for many days past. This does not mean however that New England s fuel supply is assured for the situation is still very menacing and industrial plants are still closed for lack of fuel. The anthracite coal situation was cleared somewhat in the past two days but dealers are far behind in their orders Some as much as 10 days caused by the conditions of the streets.
