Ex-Policeman Held in Alcohol Theft Case

Daniel F. Duris of 282 Massachusetts Avenue Cambridge and Joseph J Murphy of 78 Mattapan Street Mattapan, former Boston police officer, were arrested yesterday by State and Cambridge officers on larceny charges in connection with the theft of 15 barrels of alcohol from the Suffolk Export Company storehouse on January 1. Duris furnished $10,000 bail. Murphy was held on the same amount but had not secured a bondsman by last night.

Probing Death Of Young Wife In Brockton

Police and District Attorney Katzmann investigate the death of Mrs Annis Walengavicz wife of Ignatius Walengavicz of Bellevue Avenue Brockton after she died at Brockton Hospital under suspicious circumstances. Indications point to illegal surgery and an autopsy was completed. Mrs Walengavicz was admitted February 21. she leaves behind an 18 month old child and relatives in Russia and in Brockton.
