Steamers and sailings amid gales and calm in the Med

Sunday reports a string of arrivals and departures with fruit shipments to Phelps Bros Co. The Effective from Crosby reports easterly winds in the Mediterranean then heavy southwest to northwest gales near the Western Islands. A hurricane event near 42.10 N 65 W on Feb 27 stalled the ship at sea. Other vessels including Cremon, Yumurl, Keaton, Dorchester, Indian, and City of Gloucester, plus several schooners and tugs, are listed with routes, cargoes, and passengers as seas remained rough and winds variable. Highland Light then notes brisk north winds at sunset with several vessels in tow or underway.
