Several hundred Catholics gathered in St. Peter's basement to plan a new church on the Mt. Vernon and Boston streets lot, about twenty thousand square feet. Rev. Peter Ronan outlined steps under the archbishop, with wealthy residents pledging donations. A temporary structure will be erected on part of the land as construction begins. The parish will consist of current St. Peter's members, not St Augustine's, and a pastor will be appointed once building starts.

He defended his report as evidence based, questioned the department’s efficiency, and suggested a hose line in Summer Street might have saved more property. Also examined were George H. In Clan-na-Gael Hall a Shawmut Boat Club event featured lively boxing with judges Joe Lannon and Mike Bradley. Heavyweight Ed Roche of the Riversides defeated Tom Powers of the Shawinuts in a hard fought final round rally, with Powers edging in during early rounds and Roche finishing strong.
Curiaco Feb 28 Carter H. Harrison was nominated by the Democrats for Mayor of Chicago winning easily over his principal rival Washington Hesing.
The fourth annual meeting of the New York Poultry and Pigeon Association opened at Madison Square Garden this morning. The show far surpasses prior years with about five thousand entries. Every kind of owl and pigeon is on exhibition.

Edward E. Keay, about 38, was killed by an express train at West Cambridge on the Fitchburg line around 9 25 last evening after leaving a 9 15 Boston train. He lived with his parents at 184 Walden Street, North Cambridge, and was formerly a member of Engine 1. Medical Examiner Swan examined the scene. The item ends with an odd aside about liniment sales.

A midnight alarm from Box 718 drew two dozen officers and heavy apparatus to Young's Hotel on Washington Street. Fire crews found no danger as the call proved false, delayed by slushy streets and horses unable to stop.
