Democratic appeal and presidential policy divide union calls
The article cites the New York Times praising the Connecticut gubernatorial candidate while urging Republican and Democratic factions to unite for national peace. It discusses railroad measures, a Danvers riot memorial, labor hours, and cattle-disease expenses, and defends the President against Radical opposition as the nation faces a constitutional crisis.

Definite adjustment urged to end national crisis
The Philadelphia North American argues for a definite settlement of public difficulties. It states most Americans seek timely resolution while a minority resists. The delay has halted postwar prosperity and worsens business stagnation as the crisis prolongs. It cautions against judging by stock market moves, noting the impact on commerce and industry and all who deal in securities.
