Boston visitors report Daniel French has created a platinumed sculpture of poet-editor John Boyle O Reilly in New York. The bronze figure stands in Back Bay Fens at Boylston Street with three Celtic cross embellishments and a laurel wreath. The statue includes Erin the winged youth and a warrior, symbolizing O Reilly’s life. A long list of Boston figures accompanies the project and a ship with 500 passengers is noted.

Physicians form society to curb malpractice and crime

Several physicians met at Dr. S. M. Landis offices to form an organization to prevent violations of law and to check matricide and infanticide. Officers elected include Dr. S. M. Conference of College Students Opens in Northfield

The June 28 conference drew representation from over 100 colleges. In the new auditorium Mr. Moody presided while Professor Towner led the singing. John R. Mott of the international Y M C A spoke on convention significance and Evangelist J Wilbur Chapman addressed the Holy Spirit. Dr. Cuyler Brooklyn to speak tomorrow. Along the Water Front Brisk Atlantic Shipping Report

Captain Clarke aboard the British steamer Axminster reports a June 20 departure from Progreso Mexico with fine weather and smooth seas. She passed Jupiter Inlet at midnight June 22, then dense fog north of Nantucket Lightship to Highland Light. On June 23 she spoke the William A Grazier and the Rising Sun, both Provincetown whalers with oil cargos, while noting the Springwell ashore at Progreso earlier and later sailing for New York. The Axminster carried 4786 bales of sisal grass and one passenger, Magnadier Browne, and the Ethel B Jacobs arrived with 20,000 fresh and 80 barrels of salted mackerel, fetching 10-12 cents each. Other notices include the Annie Sargent stranded near Port Clyde, the Thomas Brooks total loss at Cuba with all hands saved, the B Webster leaking at Melbourne, the Imperial going ashore with coal cargo, the W H Oler receiving a new mainmast, and the Formosa yacht undergoing wheel changes.

Sailor James Kerrigan’s visit ends in lost cash and arrests

Sailor James Kerrigan, with $75 on April 5, met Longshoremen Thomas Knowles and George Kelly in this city. After days of drinking and lodging together, Kerrigan awoke to find $40 of his capital gone along with Knowles and Kelly. He reported the incident to police. Knowles and Kelly were arrested.

Two Die In Accidental Deaths In Somerville

Two men died yesterday morning in Somerville from separate accidents. Patrick Murphy, identity uncertain, was injured by a pitchfork at Fowler's stable on Marshall Street and died from arterial bleeding after an old wound reopened. George B. Brown of Winter Hill, 27, living on Freemont Street, overdosed on carbolic acid by mistake while taking medicine. he died before a physician arrived. Brown was a Halifax native and Boston painter. Funeral set for Sunday at 8. Burial in Marlboro.

Trade failures and liabilities rise for half year in 1895 report

R G Dun weekly review notes the half yearly failures total about 6900 with liabilities near 88 million dollars, down from last year’s 101 million. Second quarter liabilities are projected around 41 million, railroads show 11 receiverships, and Canada reports 1100 failures. Wheat prospects improve, wool prices surge, and boots and shoes shipments from the East decline versus last year.

Hartford June 28 Henry Taylor 17 son of Ianiel Taylor of Lakeville was handling his father's revolver when it discharged striking him in the breast. He died several hours later at hospital.

Hale and Esterbrook Freed Over Storehouse Fire Charge

Albert Hale and Miles Esterbrook faced charges in Somerville court yesterday for attempting arson at a storehouse cornered by Willoughby and Sycamore streets on the Seventeenth. The judge dismissed the case after giving a lecture and placed the records on file.

Malden Man Accused of Stealing Diamonds from Employer

George Buckman of Malden is accused of stealing three diamond rings valued at 285 dollars from Eli E. Bentley who employed him as a traveling salesman. Buckman was lured from New Hampshire to meet a friend in the city and was arrested yesterday by Inspector Whitman and Special Officer Michael Shields.

Youths Arrested Over Edgerly Street Theft

John Gallagher reported a missing watch after leaving his door open on June 11. Inspector Whitman found the item in a Kneeland street pawnshop. Henry Sampson and James Foley, both boys, were charged with theft and sent to the reformatory by Judge Hardy. They appealed and remain held at $300 each.

Train collision disrupts Fitchburg line at Miller's Falls

A mis placed switch caused west bound passenger train No. 9 to collide with a freight train on a side track at Miller's Falls June 28. Three freight cars were wrecked and passengers were shaken up but no injuries reported.

Portsmouth June 28 Inspector Blanchard of the New Hampshire district arrested four Chinamen who had been smuggled across the line from Canada. This is the first capture of this nature in New Hampshire for many years.
