Suburban Matters Lynn Common Council Action

A regular Lynn common council session discussed re considering a motion to appoint a special committee to petition the legislature for nine city wards with precincts. Petitions from H. A. Peryeas to build a factory were withdrawn. Several local notices covered retirements, travel plans, and civic notes including a possible hotel sale in Lynn and Williams resignation at Cobbet school.

Solomon Willard Birth Centennial Observed at Hall Cemetery

A centennial celebration for Solomon Willard was held in West Quincy on Tuesday. A procession formed on Copeland street and proceeded to Hall cemetery where the memorial program occurred. Orator Charles Francis Adams Jr led with the keynote address, followed by speeches from Charlies A. Foster Henry Barker Charles Breck and Andrew C. Fesring.

New Yorks Struggle in Boston. Three-Run Ninth Halted

The New Yorks barely escaped a second whitewash from the Bostons after a tense game. O'Neil set Morrill on, two wild pitches let in runs, and Buffinton surrendered control as Hornung and Morrill added hits. Ewing’s three-base drive in the ninth sparked a lone rally, Connor and Gillespie scoring on a passed ball and a single. Attendance reached 1,688 with notable defensive plays by Ewing and Hornung. Fatality at Federal Street Bridge Injury

David Lighthead aged 45 of 65 Middle Street South Boston died early Tuesday at City Hospital after injuries sustained Monday at the rough Federal Street bridge.
