SPECIMEN RADICAL AT GRANT AND WILSON RALLY HARBORS DICTATORIAL EX-REBELS

A speaker at the Grant and Wilson ratification meeting described Judge Mackey of South Carolina as a former violent Confederate mounted scout who carried two rifles five revolvers and a lasso with which he would drag Yank pickets if he failed to shoot them. The Mississippi Conservative Democrats meet in Jackson with ex governors judges and a 20 man colored delegation. Georgia Democrats at Atlanta praise unity and call for opposition to Grant, while Vermont Republicans nominate Billings and Stewart for state offices. Virginia and New York conventions show Greeley support and plans for Baltimore actions. A confidential Democratic circular hints at bolting if Greeley is nominated.
