Delegates head home after a grueling convention as Josiah Quincy of Massachusetts is favored for national committee chairmanship with William L. Wilson of West Virginia directing the notification process to President and Vice President nominees. The first stop is Buzzard's Bay to inform Grover Cleveland, then Bloomington, Illinois for General Adlai E. Stevenson.
Delegates to the Chicago convention will arrive in Boston today on the 3 40 train over the Fitchburg road. A grand reception is planned by the Young Men's Democratic Club with carriages at the station and escort to the club headquarters for a love feast. Prominent Democrats from city and state will be present as returning delegates recall the week’s events at the national Democratic gathering.
Norwalk, Conn., farmer Shemas F. Lynch, 43, visited the Free Labor Bureau at the Barge Office seeking a wife. He showed a bank book declaring $400, offered cash to the girl who would marry him. An Irish immigrant woman asked for $400 to marry, then $200, but rejected him. Lynch left crestfallen, offering a commission to find a wife and planning to stay two weeks at 15 East Broadway to pursue a match.
Yale catcher Carter lies in critical condition at Hotel Vendome after a blow from Harvard's Hallowell Thursday. He has been insane since the accident and doctors fear a serious concussion. Ridgeway and a nurse attend him as Carter's parents head to Boston. his absence weakens Yale for the second game with Harvard next Tuesday.

Harrisburg June 25 A Western Express collision at Dock Street killed thirteen people and left about forty injured. The second section telescoped the first wrecking two cars, with at least Richard Adams and his wife among the dead. Rescue efforts hampered by rain, an infant missing but later recovered among ten bodies. Robert Pitcairn and the Westinghouse party escaped unharmed.
