Tehran June 23 The clash around the Parliament buildings left several soldiers dead as Cossacks and troops surrounded the area demanding arrests ordered by the Shah. Parliament refused the demand and fighting ensued, leaving the city briefly quiet later.

Report based on confidential plans of British shipbuilders claims Brazil ordered an extensive navy expansion. Diplomatic charters question motive as inquiries begin into battleships cruisers and war craft. Secret London agents say payments come from Tokio and ships may be delivered to Japan.
Military headquarters ordered bombardment of Parliament buildings starting at 10 AM and lasting until 8 PM. Bombs from the Parliament and adjoining mosque disabled a gun and wounded gunners. Parliament halls cleared amid many killed or wounded as troops looted clubs and homes of MPs aided by the crowd. Casualties unknown but expected high. Parliament square was center of fighting with many Nationalists including priests and MPs arrested.
Charles B Jefferson former theatrical manager and eldest son of Joseph Jefferson died at St Luke's Hospital after several days with stomach troubles. He leaves a widow and four daughters. Interment planned in Sandwich Massachusetts.

Secretary Taft drew a massive, multi-stop reception at Yale and New Haven. He appeared at Woodbridge Hall for a Yale corporation meeting then moved to Edwards House for Yale class of 1878 dinner and a tribute to the Yale man of 1898 who died serving the country. Thousands lined streets, bands serenaded him, and Yale pennants bore his likeness as mothers lifted children for a glimpse.
