Desperate remedies for overstocked stock. Suits originally from 18 to 20 reduced to 15. Other suits from 15 to 18 now 12. Sizes 34 to 42, all made in house, fitting available. Boys and children’s suits similarly marked in game proportion. Inspection urged as great bargains.
Albert T. Whiting announces a general order promoting George A. Wyman to captain and moving Philemon D. Warren to Station 12 while shifting several lieutenants, sergeants, and patrolmen across divisions. The changes take effect at 5:45 p.m. Saturday amid talk of Wyman's popularity and Westcott's expected rise.
In Burlington Vermont on June 22 the special convention elected the Rev Samuel Hart D D of Hartford Connecticut as bishop of the diocese of Vermont. Ballots listed candidates from Rutland Bennington Detroit Mich Roxbury Conn Memphis Tenn Saratoga N Y Concord N H Providence R I and others. Hart won a majority on the fourth ballot and the election was declared unanimous.
Mellen McLeot a freight conductor on the Providence division lies in critical condition at Massachusetts General Hospital after being struck by an inward bound train at the Knownothing crossing at 6 o clock last night. He is about 20 years old married and resides at 14 Terrace street Roxbury.
In Barre Vermont on June 22 Annie Mathewson a 6 year old girl died after setting fire to her clothes with matches. Her mother, severely burned, tried to save her and is hospitalized.
Samuel R. Hersey of Massachusetts an ex assistant chief of division in the pension office has been reinstated.
Frank McGraw 19 known as Jimmy Hill and Frank Hayward, sought by police in several cities, is captured at Joy Street station. He faces larceny charges for stealing a horse buggy and harness from R. C. Knowles, with more than a dozen related thefts across Malden, Cambridge, and Newtonville.
The Stewart and Binney Boston syndicate yacht Pilgrim remains in dry dock at Erie Basin awaiting refinements on her 22 foot draft. Designers warn she may miss early Sound races at Larchmont and Seawanhaka Corinthian events, targeting the Goelet cups off Newport in August.
News from England reports the death of William D. McCoy a U S minister from Indiana to Liberia. He died at Monrovia on May 14 and was buried with military honors. Born November 17, 1858 in Indiana he was appointed January 1892 by President Harrison succeeding Alexander Clark of Iowa. He is the fourth U S minister resident to die at Monrovia in twelve years.
George Gillespie arrived in Fort Dodge at 12 27 PM and, with two fatigued horses, departed with Stephens at 2 25 PM. George Jones registered at 6 PM and Joe Campbell at 7 20 PM. The remaining cowboys including Doc Middleton are en route toward Galva and expected to arrive by morning.
Denver June 22 The attorneys for Dr T Thatcher Graves awaiting a rehearing on the charge of poisoning Mrs Barnaby Providence applied to the Supreme Court for a writ of habeas corpus. They seek his release arguing two terms of court have passed since his imprisonment without trial.
Senate report on the State Prison inquiry finds General Chamberlain exonerated and praised for reforms. The committee notes no proven charges of mismanagement or cruelty and urges reinstatement for Chamberlain as warden and Dr. Fox as prison physician.

Bridgeport Conneticut drivers and conductors of the Bridgeport Horse Railway Company walked out after 4 pm and by 6 pm the entire line was idle. About 100 workers joined the strike protesting 15 to 16 hour shifts under new syndicate control led by Colonel N. H. Heft. No violence reported. only Main Street excitement as a driver refused to proceed before joining. No trouble reported on the Bridgeport Stratford segment.
