Indications show a 24 hour period starting 7 a.m. Saturday June 23 with light to fresh westerly winds in New England, cooler but fair weather expected.
The Yale University crew won the four mile race on the Thames against the University of Pennsylvania. Also noted are Navy and other regional results, with Boston and New York updates across pages.
At Charter Oak Park Hartrorp Conn June 22 a large crowd witnessed the 2:19 class trotting with Favonia as the favorite winning the race and Rosalind Wilkes taking heats three and four including a best time of 2:17. Farmer Boy driven by W Daly gave an exhibition mile in 2:18%4 and a warming run in 2:22. The 2:34 class trotting ended with Patience the winner in straight heats as entries dwindled from original 21 to four starters.
Union delegates discuss possible nomination outcomes as Harrison or Allison loom, with Blaine's backers pressing a delay strategy. New York and Pennsylvania factions maneuver to influence adjournments and coalitions, while Gresham and Ingersoll trigger protests.

Thomas Williams and Manuel Rose of Gloucester on the schooner Margaret lost contact while setting trawls seventy miles southeast of Saukaty Head Friday June 15. They were picked up twenty six hours later by the schooner Mary Louise of Stonington and brought to Block Island where they are in the life-saving station keeper's care.
In New Haven on June 22 the sixth round doubles saw Beach with Thacher defeat Huntington and St John 6 5 6 3. Campbell and Hall won the doubles final 7 5 6 8 3 6 over Beach and Thacher. MacMullin beat Campbell in the singles final 6 3 6 3 3 6 3 6.
James Hennessy of Grafton was thrown from a freight train on the Boston and Albany line in Worcester after coming to see a circus and missing the regular train. He died as a result of the accident.
