Trial Without Jury Opens Over Cuban Exhibit Billing
Attorney Walsh for Caldwell & Co. asks Judge Hall to hear a nonjury case, with Magenis of the Boston Finance Commission agreeing. The case concerns whether the Boston Retail Grocers' Association owes for transporting a Cuban government exhibit to the Mechanics Building during a 1914 fair. The original bill was $1400, later reduced, and a Philadelphia manager testified about a $23 taxi charge deemed excessive. The hearing resumes at 8 am today after an adjournment.
