The Chicago gathering of the American Institute of Homeopaths at its annual convention devoted most of opening proceedings to glands and gland-based cures. Dr Roy Upham of Brooklyn headed a key address on gland products including human, monkey, hog and sheep glands.
Federal Agent John H. McCoubrey of Springfield recovered consciousness two hours after tasting liquor bought from Thomas Matthews on Worthington road. Accompanied by Agent Edgar R. Davis, McCoubrey collapsed soon after starting the return trip and was treated at Huntington Inn by Dr. Charles H. Mace and his son.
In Winsted Connecticut on June 19 a white leghorn pullet owned by Mrs. Mary Thomas was stolen by Lorentz Angell and companions. The hen perched on Mrs Thomas' car and rode off unnoticed until a low tree limb jolted it free. the pullet was later seen roosting with partridges as officials chased the incident.

Frank T. Mockler and Wm Heenan are held after a convict testifies he sold stolen goods to the jewelers. Indictments accuse Mockler and Heenan of complicity in a theft ring.
Three climbers Mallory Wakefield and Somervell have reached within a few hundred feet of Everest summit, the highest altitude reached on foot. The Everest expedition reports indicate the trio closed in on the peak.

Two Boston jewelers lie in jail after grand jury indictment for obtaining jewelry stolen from Louis K. Liggett of 185 Hammond street and John Moir of 884 Hammond street Newton. State convict James Muldoon allegedly supplied the items with the alleged thefts occurring at private residences.
Marina De Palma 20, a Back Bay model, and Mabel E. Rose 22, both fought razor duels over Domenica DAndrea 29, a Massachusetts Avenue salesman. They appeared at City Hall yesterday and obtained a marriage license.
Constantine Demos, 27, drank carbolic acid at 198 Boston Street Lynn. He was escorted to Lynn Hospital by an orderly after Mrs. Demos announced the act. He died fifteen minutes after admission despite stomach pump and antidotes.
Returns from 212 of 635 precincts in Maine indicate strong support for U S Senator Frederick Hale and Governor Percival Baxter in the Republican primary. Hale leads with 13 866 to 7 714 for Guernsey and 2 194 for Davies while Baxter trails Deering 6 106 and Higgins 5 021.
The report notes Frank E. Guernsey strong in eastern Maine, Hale ahead in larger towns including Bath, and Governor Baxter with John P. Deering and Leon F. Higgins trailing. Knox and other areas favor Baxter as results come in.
Washington reports the soldier bonus bill failed to beat the tariff for legislative right of way in the Senate. House action on the subsidy bill is expected to delay, raising prospects both measures may clash later as Harding aims to pass the subsidy this session. President, guided by Senator Lodge, secured a caucus decision to postpone bonus action until tariff plans are settled.
Brockton June 19 Joseph T Galligan Montello drug store proprietor testifies in probate court he and his wife Helen M Galligan lived in constant conflict. He says after hearing her testimony he defended himself by attacking her character and her family.
Galligan acknowledges the accusation that he choked a woman and forced her sister out of doors on a single occasion, as testimony unfolds during the court hearing. The remark appears amid fragmented statements in the trial record.
Police investigate the alleged kidnapping of 11-year-old Mabel A. Fox from Northampton Street. Father George A. Fox says the mother, Mrs. Fox of Pittsburg, Pa., forced entry by breaking a door panel eight years after their separation. The girl had recently left a hospital where she was treated and returned home.
Joseph Walker of Brookline announced he will oppose Senator Henry Cabot Lodge in the Republican primaries after former Governor McCall stated he will not seek the U S Senate. Walker declared he is a candidate and will issue a formal announcement in a few days. McCall spoke at Smith College trustees meeting in Northampton and said he will not run.
