Charles E. Cushing, 25, rescued C. G. Kershaw of 29 Groveland Avenue Mattapan from drowning at Glen Echo Park Lake Stoughton. Kershaw diving from a spring board struck his head on a rock, sank twice, and was saved just as he neared unconsciousness while bathers watched.

Panic struck Hotel Taft guests when Kirk's garage, linked to the hotel, exploded from 1000 gallons of gasolene in the cellar.
