Cor nelius H. Tagen, driver of Engine 14, skilfully managed a three horse hitch to avert a collision with Ladder 4 and a surface car on Shawmut avenue near Vernon street yesterday afternoon. He was thrown from his seat and died at City Hospital yesterday evening.
