His body was recovered about an hour later. he leaves a widow, three daughters and one son.
T M May of Shutesbury was held for the grand jury after firing a revolver at Howard also of Shutesbury. The dispute arose from a horse sale in which Howard had sold May a horse for 40 dollars with 26 paid. May refused further payment, leading to the gunfire.
The Normannia arrived from Southampton in New York on June 16 and came within 46 minutes of beating the westward record. Its time was 6 days 12 hours and 30 minutes, close to the 6 days 11 hours 44 minutes set by the Fuerst Bismarck on April 28, 1892.

In Rockland Louis H Webber house on Ingraham's Hill with outbuildings was totally destroyed by fire this morning. The family barely escaped. The property was insured for 1200 dollars, which nearly covers the loss.
An unknown man about thirty five was killed on the Boston and Maine road near the marshes this afternoon. The mangled remains were brought to Lynn on the 4:42 train from Boston.
Mrs Willis Hutchinson killed herself by drowning in a watering trough at Wilton near Nashoda after illness. She formerly lived in Nashoba and leaves a husband and two children.
President Cleveland named John J. Love to be postmaster at Webster Massachusetts succeeding J Racken who resigned. The appointment was announced today along with other changes.
