Judge Caldwell of the United States Circuit Court ruled that Missouri owners shipped liquor in original packages and Kansas petitioners sold it as agents. The decision holds Kansas laws criminalizing such sale conflict with the U S Constitution’s commercial clause and are void. The ruling has caused great excitement.
New York reports the Cunard steamer Etruria arriving with word of twelve large icebergs noted in lat 43 50 and longitude 43. The captain described bergs as very large but did not approach closely. A blast near Madison Connecticut disrupted Shore Line service delaying the 6 o clock Gilt-edged train from New York to Boston. The engine switched at New Haven to the Air Line then to Connecticut Valley at Middletown and Saybrook, reaching Providence at 10 30, thirty minutes late. The Westerly to Providence run, forty five miles, took forty six minutes.

Louisville report says the state treasury is empty and a July 1 deficit may reach 50000 dollars. Governor Buckner plans to save the state's credit by advancing funds from his private fortune without interest to cover urgent obligations, having already advanced 10000 dollars.
