Revere Police Seize Liquor and Make Several Raids
Revere police conducted seven raids Saturday and Sunday in plain clothes but did not recover large quantities of liquor. At H. W. Walsh on Ocean avenue they arrested Walsh for illegal sale after allegedly purchasing drinks. A small amount of lager was seized at Noddle Island Cottage from Timothy Shaughnessy, the accused proprietor, as about a dozen men fled through windows and doors, leaving liquor behind.

Five thousand Bostonians heard the Sturdy Sons of Sweden sing at the Soldiers Monument base yesterday as the Eastern division of the United Swedish Singers Association of America opened a four day convention. Arvid Akerlind of New York directed a half hour program of four numbers ending with América. Delegates were welcomed at Paine Memorial Hall for supper and a busy schedule was planned for Tremont Temple and Paine Memorial Hall today and tonight. Sweden is highlighted for male choral excellence rooted in 18th century university singing societies. The Eastern division covers all societies east of Illinois.

The fishing schooner Alice M Guthrie limped into a wharf in tow of the tug Vesta after a violent collision in dense fog seven miles southeast of Highland Light with the five masted Baker Palmer from Portland to Baltimore. Captain Martin Guthrie stood at the wheel as ten crewmen worked the deck and dories. eight were on deck when the collision occurred. Irving Rankin narrowly escaped death after being thrown from his bunk during the crash. The Palmer’s rigging tangled with the Guthrie’s wreckage, trapping the ships together as water flooded the Guthrie. Crew fought to seal a large hole in the bow and pump out the vessel while waves battered the hull.
