National Lancers Celebrate Forty Third Anniversary in Boston
The National Lancers marked their forty third anniversary with a street parade and banquet at Faneuil Hall. Capt Nettleton led a procession from the armory through central streets to the hall, where speeches honored veterans and praised the corps future. The event included remarks from city and state officials and a somber tribute to a fallen member.

Blaine Against a Third Term and Boston as an Intellectual Irritant
A Detroit Free Press piece surveys Blaine's stance on a third term and argues he did not oppose the idea itself, while noting his defense of Grant’s two terms. It also praises Boston as a leading yet provocative American city and cites French criticism of Grant’s presidency. The excerpt includes comments on Gov. Foster, political bosses seeking third terms, and a promotional ad for triple plated tableware.
