Bomb Thrown at Faure Carriage During Grand Prix Route

Paris reports an assassination attempt on President Felix Faure as his carriage neared La Cascade in Bois de Boulogne during the Grand Prix. A bomb, described as a six inch by two inch device filled with powder and swan shot, exploded without injuring anyone. A man named Gallet, residing at Levallois Perret, was arrested with a youth later taken into custody. Police search Lodgings as officials note possible insanity. The attack sparked crowd frenzy but Faure reached the Elysee safely amid cheers. A pistol and dagger bearing provocative inscriptions were found near the blast site, along with a mocking paper cartoon. Investigations continue into whether anarchists or a lone madman acted, with extra guards on Faure’s route and at the race course.
