Official on a Tour of Investigation The Indictments Against Congressman Bert Washington
The Mexican Claims Commission has adjourned to next November with most cases already concluded by the umpire Sir Edward Thornton. Most Mexican claims are minor and the United States holds the larger sums, while Senor Macena’s bias toward Mexican claimants remains noted. U.S. interests are weighted by the larger sums at stake. The Customs Service is under review after Bristow’s investigation reveals systemic inefficiencies requiring reforms, mainly in the Northern States and inland cities. The Treasury Robbery remains unsolved with no Washington detective involvement yet. Tallapoosa sails with 23 boys and the Marine Band for Bunker Hill observances. Investigations into crooked whiskey frauds show progress and expected further seizures.
