Two Arrested At Hospital in Double Incident Case

Jacob Rosenberg and Charles B. Reegan were arrested after discharge from Boston City Hospital. Rosenberg is charged with murdering his sister in law Rosie Rosenberg at Minot Street shop on June 4. Reegan charged with assault to kill his wife at Pinckney Street on May 9. Both men attempted suicide. Rosenberg recovered quickly while Reegan cut his throat. Guards watched each patient. Reegan’s address is 36 Myrtle Street.

Newark Doctor Arrested in Boston on Fraud Charges

Kenneth D. Douglas claiming a PhD from McGill University and a social worker author was arrested at Fenway studio Ipswich street Back Bay by Inspector Sheehan. He faces Newark New Jersey warrants for false pretences and perjury and is labeled a worth less check operator by authorities.

Douglas, once a Boston newspaper writer linked with Billy Sunday and William Allen White, reportedly deserted his young wife Marjory Stoneham of Taunton Mass after a June Newark marriage. He vanished after a trip to the White Mountains and a warned arrest from Newark police.

Alumni donate 38000 to Boston College president at banquet

The Alumni Association of Boston College gave 38000 to Very Rev Charles W Lyons S J, the new college president, at a banquet held at Youngs Hotel. Edward A McLoughlin presented the fund on behalf of the executive committee. Lyons received a standing ovation from about 400 alumni. Senior class members also attended as guests.

Senate approves repeal of Panama canal tolls exemption

The Senate on June 11 passed by 50 to 35 a bill repealing the coastwise shipping tolls exemption for the Panama canal. The measure returns to the House, which is expected to accept the Simmons Norris amendment preserving U S rights under the Hay Pauncefote treaty. The vote followed a lengthy debate.
