Collision sinks coal schooner Notman near fog coast
The Mallory line steamer Colorado, bound for New York from Brunswick, reported a collision with the four masted coal laden schooner Charles P. Notman seven miles east north of the north end lightship in dense fog at 4 AM. Notman sank in sixteen minutes. Colorado rescued thirteen hands and proceeded to quarantine with 18 saloon, 10 cabin, and 9 steerage passengers aboard a crew of forty five. Notman registered 1902 tons and was built in Bath, Maine.
