Tornado Toll Rises in Illinois Towns Quincy Degraff

New details from Logan county show greater destruction than first reported. In Quincy, 50 to 60 dwellings and stores and two churches were destroyed or roofless, with many outbuildings damaged. A parlor stove killed a woman when hurled by the wind. Boggs's five story flouring mill lost its roof and fifth floor, moved nine inches on its foundation, while Degraff suffered extensive damage with fewer injuries. Evidence of the storm spread beyond Degraff as it moved on, lifting timber and debris. The casualty list cites 39 injured in Quincy and 1 in Degraff, with Morse Glick dying from wounds and Mrs Ball thought dead but still living.
