Judge William Schofield of the United States Circuit Court died yesterday afternoon at his home 136 Summer street Malden from spinal trouble. His wife was at his bedside. He had been on the bench about one year after his appointment.

Boston regains proximity to Chicago after a West Coast swing while Washington continues a ten game winning streak with a 7 to 3 win over Detroit. Chicago trails Boston by a fraction, with Washington 2 1/2 games back as Detroit remains outside the top two in the standings.
The list includes Howard P. Drew and Oscar Hedlund among New England athletes chosen for events from 100 to 10,000 metres and field events. Notable names span Springfield Harvard Yale and Brown, with multiple Boston A. A. affiliates and Dartmouth represented. The full roster appears on Page 11.

Abington celebrated its 200th anniversary with the dedication of a memorial bridge and arch in Island Grove Park honoring Civil War soldiers. Dr. Frank G. Wheatley presented the memorial, Winslow L. Jones accepted, and GA R ceremonial services followed with remarks by Daniel R. Coughlin Colonel William B. Arnold and Congressman Robert O. Harris. About 25,000 visitors attended the day. Finishing with fireworks in the evening.
A gang under Police Captain McKeon dragged Central Park lakes to recover the body of May Yoke. She rose to fame as a burlesque actress, married Lord Francis Hope in 1894, and later eloped with Major Putnam Bradlee Strong, son of a former New York mayor.
Five thousand pupils will march in a morning parade through Abington Whitman and Rockland tomorrow, reflecting a coordinated community event with students from local schools taking part.
