Boston and Chelsea saloons shut at six as dry act protests sweep the city. A crowd of about 10 000 fills the Mechanics' Building big hall while other venues still serve liquor as authorities enforce the measure.
The Senate printed the peace treaty in the public record after a five hour session and opened an inquiry into leak sources. Prominent financiers were summoned in Washington to testify on how copies reached private hands, as the treaty text arrived via a Chicago newspaperman following a Wilson cable stating he could not send the text.
Pale and gaunt Mrs Bessie Mae Skeels Lundgren sat in the Essex County Superior Criminal Court as the jury was drawn to decide her guilt or innocence in the murder of Miss Florence M Gay. The 52 year old former Andover nurse and choir singer appeared almost alive only in fragments, drawing sympathy and shock from those present.

Delegates representing over 3 000 000 American workers gathered in Atlantic City at the AFL opening session. They rejected radical agitator ideas and planned to address reconstruction issues crucial to organized labor.
Governor Runyon of New Jersey denounced radicals in a New York gathering saying their plans could lead to chaos if not settled to their plan. He asserted labor and the convention are involved, with the remark continued on Page 18 Fifth Column.
In the East Antrim by election Sir Edward Carson led Unionists were defeated by Independent Unionist Hanna who won 8714 votes. Moore 7549 and Legg 1778 trailed as workingmen backed Hanna while Carson called for Moore's resignation.
Secretary Lansing has received cabled copies of Senate resolutions demanding the text of the German treaty and seeking a hearing before the peace conference for Edward de Valera and other Irish delegates. He referred them to President Wilson, who has not yet decided.
Seven year old Margaret Davis was struck by James J. McCarthy’s car on Ashmont street near Albion as she crossed the road. She was on her way home to 3 Wainwright street Dorchester. The incident resulted in painful injuries.
John Joseph McKenna 22 of 117 Cabot Street Roxbury killed himself in front of his mother while she cooked supper after pawning shoes to buy a revolver. He drew the gun fired twice, the first misfired. he died instantly from a brain wound. Family offered no motive.
Greater Boston joined a voluntary dry stance as war-time prohibitions spread. Saloonkeepers hotel managers and clubs closed by 6 p m following a mass meeting call by the Boston Liquor Dealers Association and the Hotel Men's Association. Gallivan and Fitzgerald warn Wilson may revoke July 1 law.
Chelsea shut its swinging doors at 6 o clock to extend the dry section for miles beyond Boston. Jamaica Plain Roxbury East Boston South Boston and Charlestown followed with closures at the same hour.
Germany pressed for reparations for Frye destruction to go to prize court. One year ago US marines held Belleau Wood near Chateau Thierry, advancing two thirds of a mile on a 600 yard front. Norwegian steamer Hendrik Lund sunk off Cape Hatteras. Austrian dreadnoughts damaged near the Dalmatian Islands by Italian torpedo boat.
In the National League Chicago defeated Boston 3 to 2 in 11 innings. Cincinnati routed Brooklyn 7 to 2 while St. Louis topped Philadelphia 6 to 1. Other MLB games were postponed by rain, including New York vs Pittsburgh and New England and Eastern League games.
Forecast notes unsettled conditions for Boston and vicinity on Tuesday with a likely Wednesday clearing. Western weather shifts to fair by midweek, while northern New England sees rain in Maine and warmer interior. Winds vary from moderate north west to west along coastlines with high pressure over the Middle Atlantic.
Telegraph workers at Western Union and Postal Telegraph offices in Boston and branches elsewhere plan a near total walkout tomorrow. Local Union 4 President I Bramberg says the general strike call was officially received last night.

Carrie Patton of Baltimore asks Mayor Peters to locate her son Robert, a 26th Division veteran, whom she placed in a home 25 years ago. A France bound letter prompted the appeal, noting the son yearned to hear from his mother and asking official inquiry into his possible return with the unit.
