MINNEAPOLIS, June 10. President Garrison was renominated today on the first ballot at the convention amid wild cheering. Harrison supporters led, Quay Clarkson Platt and Foraker looked sorrowful, New cried with joy as Harrison’s name prompted a unanimous vote and hats flew. The city roared as the crowd hailed a possible Cabinet appointment for John C. New.

Swindling charge against Richard A. Gladding

Richard A. Gladding of 517 Shawmut avenue was arrested for obtaining 872 dollars by false pretenses from Albert Easterlind of 41 Lynde street on May 23. Easterlind’s shoe store at 50 Green street led to a meeting with a Taunton property, a note for 500 dollars, and a mortgage, with a Taunton assessor valuing the property as little or nothing. A real estate man’s 22 dollar commission was discussed, Gladding offering half if Easterlind paid the other half. Easterlind gave 11 dollars cash and a possibly uncashed check from Gladding.
