A thief entered Mrs James K R Wheeler at 19 Bartlett Highlands taking jewelry worth 1000 dollars during the Barnum parade. David Finnigan was arrested for assault with a club on Morris Joy at 148 Eliot Street. William Troy was arrested for assault with a loaded pistol on Francis M McCarty at Eighth and Douglas streets. the gun misfired after Troy blamed McCarty for his misfortune.

Shoe dealer dies after elevator accident in Boston
Thomas J. Thurston, 45, a dealer in shoe findings at 55 High street, was fatally injured in an elevator incident about 5 P.M. Tuesday. His leg was crushed, his abdomen punctured, and he suffered multiple contusions. He died at Massachusetts General Hospital around 6 P.M. Thurston had recently arrived from Philadelphia and lodged at 25 Derne Street.

The Boston and Bangor steamship company inaugurated the summer schedule of daily trips to Bangor and Bar Harbor on Tuesday. The six popular steamers have been overhauled, repaired, and repainted during the winter and are now in commission. They may be inspected at Foster's wharf on Atlantic Avenue while in port.
