Co 33,000 and National Park aloes 50,000 among preferred creditors totaling 60,000.
New London Conn June 9 Captain Lampher of the steamer City of Worcester in collision with the Stonington off Bartletts reef on June 7 has demanded a thorough investigation and assignment of blame by government inspectors. The passage also promotes Angostura Bitters urging acceptance as a pre dinner tonic and warns against counterfeits from Dr J G B Siegert & Sona.
Joseph E McDonald of Indiana arrives in Washington and says no real enthusiasm for Blaine in Indiana or beyond He believes the Democrats should nominate wisely as Blaine would lose If Voorhees and Calkins agree Blaine Logan cannot win Indiana and the Republican ticket appears weak to carry the state
The Independent will not support Chicago’s ticket. It condemns Blaine and Logan as self seeking, unscrupulous party rulers. It urges devotion to principles over party and predicts New York may yield to a strong Democratic candidate.
The Maine delegation plus California guests arrive in Boston and travel to Augusta for Blaine’s reception. Enthusiastic crowds cheer, with speeches by Boutelle and McClure. Blaine thanks Maine and Pacific supporters at his door amid bands, bells, and fireworks.
Theodore Roosevelt in St Paul on June 9 praised the Chicago convention platform as strong and broadly appealing. In New Haven June 9 two Yale students N G Williams and William H Hyndman faced breach of the peace charges. They sang offensive songs in front of the Grand Union hotel insulted guests and threw stones. Each was fined 25 dollars plus costs and appealed to the superior court with 200 dollar bonds. Williams was university baseball manager and Hyndman a former boat crew member.

Mrs Scott wife of a Plainfield preacher wandered away last Saturday and was found drowned in an Orange pond Monday morning, several miles from home. Neighbors said she had been troubled for a long time.
In Clinton, Johnny Pebbs and William Thompson, noted professional bank burglars, received ten year terms in the state prison. The town also saw the Clinton house shut to the public following a temperance agitation and no license vote at the annual meeting.
W T Sweet of Olneyville, 55, stood with his wagon at the Dike street crossing waiting for a Springfield railway train when a Shore Line train from New York struck him at 1 40 in the afternoon Monday. He was thrown over the smokestack and killed instantly.
